It has always been a favorite of this writer. I can remember it being played regularly on September's juke box - a bar at 75th St and 2nd Ave, NYC. That was 1972-73. Over the years there has been numerous recorded versions. The very best early video 1975 is here and includes the bands etmology. Jumping ahead, to the CMA Awards of 2015 there was performed a terrific version including Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott, Hunter Hayes and Jennifer Nettles. You will notice the audio engineer is slow to bring lead, Michael McDonald, to correct level (on all ABC versions).
